COMPETITION RULES
Official point structure and division eligibility for all sanctioned waterfowl calling contests.
Point Scoring System
Junior
Open to junior competitors. Wins do not count toward advancement.
Novice
No prior wins allowed. Open to all first-time competitors.
Amateur
Up to 3 wins in any amateur contest. State contests also use these point values.
Pro
Open to all competitors.
Point Multipliers
World Contest
All points earned at a designated World Contest are multiplied by 3×. This applies to every division and placement at the event.
Large Contest
Any contest with 15 or more callers in a division earns a 2× point multiplier for that division. Multipliers do not stack with the World Contest multiplier.
Attendance Multiplier
Commit early. Win bigger.
Before a contest begins, you can get your Attendance Multiplier — committing to attend a specific division. If you place in that division, your points are multiplied by 1.5×. Attendance multipliers lock in once the first contest of the day starts, so you must commit ahead of time.
One-Round Throwdown
Some contests are run as a one-round throwdown — a single elimination round instead of the standard multi-round format. Because the field doesn't go through the full gauntlet, points earned at these contests are halved (0.5×). This multiplier stacks with the World Contest, Large Contest, and Attendance multipliers.
Badges
Special badges awarded to recognize extraordinary achievements. A caller may hold multiple badges simultaneously.
Awarded to a caller who has won a designated World Contest championship in any species or division.
Awarded to a caller who has claimed three or more World Contest championships across any species or division.
Awarded to a caller who has been crowned World Champion 10 or more times across any species or division.
Awarded to the winner of the Champion of Champions contest — an invitational open only to world champions, held once every five years. Open to world champions of any species or division.

How Tiers Are Tracked Per Style
Competition tiers (Novice, Amateur, Pro) are tracked separately for each calling style within Duck and Goose. Speckle Belly and Snow Goose each have a single species-wide tier. The highest tier you've achieved across all styles is displayed on your profile badge.
Duck — 4 Style Tiers
- Main Street: Includes Main Street and Open Main Street. A Pro win in Main Street makes you Pro in Main Street. State wins count as Amateur wins toward the 3-win threshold.
- Live Duck: Includes Live Duck and Two-Man Live Duck. A Pro win in either makes you Pro in Live Duck. State wins count as Amateur wins toward the 3-win threshold.
- Meat Duck: Includes Meat Duck and Two-Man Meat Duck. A Pro win in either makes you Pro in Meat Duck. State wins count as Amateur wins toward the 3-win threshold.
- Cutdown: Includes Cutdown and Two-Man Cutdown. A Pro win in either makes you Pro in Cutdown. State wins count as Amateur wins toward the 3-win threshold.
Goose — 2 Style Tiers
- Open Goose: Includes Open Goose and Two-Man Open Goose. A Pro win in either makes you Pro in Open Goose. State wins count as Amateur wins toward the 3-win threshold.
- Live Goose: Includes Live Goose and Two-Man Live Goose. A Pro win in either makes you Pro in Live Goose. State wins count as Amateur wins toward the 3-win threshold.
Speckle Belly & Snow Goose — 1 Tier Each
These species are not split by style. A Pro win in Speckle Belly makes you Pro in Speckle Belly (all styles). Same for Snow Goose. State wins count as Amateur wins toward the 3-win threshold.
Power Score
The Power Score is a 0–100 ranking that shows how strong a contest's field is. It only appears on Pro-level contests (contests that include an Open or State division) — and only once callers start committing to attend. The more elite and deep the field, the higher the score.
What makes it go up
- Each committed caller adds strength based on their tier: Pro callers are worth the most, Amateur less, and Novice the least.
- Prestige badges — World Champ, 3× World Champ, Legend, and Champ of Champs — add bonus points.
- A caller's career wins add a little more.
- A caller ranked near the top of a division leaderboard adds even more — and world champions carry that prestige into every division, even ones where they don't have leaderboard points.
How the score is built
- 75% comes from the top committed callers — your headliners.
- 15% comes from the average strength of the whole field.
- 10% comes from field depth — a bigger committed field lifts the score too.
Reading the score
A Power Score isn't a rating of the event itself — it reflects the strength of the callers who have committed to attend so far. It grows as more and stronger callers sign up.
Fantasy Calling
Pick how you think a contest will finish before it starts. You're locked in once the contest begins, and you earn points based on how many of your picks come true. You can't play fantasy for a division you're attending, competing in, or judging.
Placement Points
Correctly picking a caller's exact finishing position earns the same points as a Pro contest:
Dark Horse
Pick a dark horse from the attending callers. If they finish anywhere in the top 5, you earn a flat 200 points.
Underdog Bonus
If you correctly pick a caller whose weighted pick percentage is below 15%, that pick's points are tripled (3×).
Perfect Bracket
Get all five placement picks right in a single division and your entire division total is multiplied by 5×.
How it works
- For each division, pick who you think finishes 1st through 5th, plus a dark horse.
- Picks lock when the contest starts — no changes after that.
- You can't play fantasy for a division you're attending, competing in, or judging.
- The underdog bonus uses the weighted pick percentage shown on each caller — callers picked by fewer people are worth more when you get them right.
- The perfect bracket multiplier applies to your placement points for that division (dark horse bonus included).
Fantasy points are separate
Fantasy points only count toward the Fantasy Calling Leaderboard — they do not count toward a caller's career stats, division leaderboards, the Road to National Title race, or any company leaderboard (call, firearm, ammunition, decoy, or guide service). Fantasy is its own standalone competition.
